Today I travelled down to the Findon track , to cover the final Interclub competion for the year and when I got there there wasn,t a carpark insight! I was a little late but , Crikey , there was a good crowd there.

You could feel the buzz in the air , like something big was about to happen and it did , the racing was "No Prisoners Taken" and it provided some of the best racing seen for some time.

Now for the teams , The Comets , being the home team.

The Comets;(div 7) Mat Forester, Kara Shultz , (div 6) Todd Clarke , Matt Bryant , (div 5) Brayden Clarke , (div 4) Nicole Kinross , Shane Evans , Patrick Evans , (div 3) Scott Kinross , Sarah Kinross , (div 2) Bobby McMillan , Ross Priest , (over 30's)Darren Schultz , Robert thompson , Andrew Dobie , (div 1) Ross Priest , Brad Gentle .

The Jets ; (div 7) Michael Ratcliff , Mathew Snowden , (div 6) Jake Kerley , Michael Ratcliff , (div 5) Braden Makepeace , Luke childs , (div 4) Josh Debattista , Robbie Vella , John Stevenson , (div 3) Jay Walters , Dean Jolly , Joel Chadwick , (div 2) Daniel bax , Joel Chadwick , Cody Chadwick , (over 30's) Brad Hoppo , Nigel Greenhalgh , (div 1) Ryan Edson , Cody Chadwick .

The Dolphins ; (div 7) Jack Norman , Kian Bird , (div 6) Jack Norman , Kian Bird , Luke Poole , (div 5) Shiranta Aston , Chris Mowbray , Brendon  Brown , (div 4) Lucy Millikin , Michael Karpany , Andrew Wilkie , (div 3) Gabby Aston , Michael Karpany , (div 2) Ty Geertsen , Robert Fitzpatrick , ( over 30's) Paul White , Robert Fleming , (div 1) Daniel Pudney , Cameron Crisp .

Well there they are and all teams seem to have their strengths and weaknesses , remember this is six on a grid with points alloted 6-1 for all riders that cross the finish line with two riders from each club riding in each race.

The weather and the track both looked good and the racing was fast and furious with plenty of slides and crashes , just to show they weren't mucking around , this was in all divisions.

Division seven kicked things off with the points going to Norman (6) Ratcliff (5) Bird (4) Schultz (3) Forester (2) Snowden (-)

progress score;Comets (5) Jets (5) Dolphins (10)

Division six saw Bryant (6) and Clarke (5) take the first maximum for the Comets while Norman picked up (4) with Poole getting (3)Ratcliff picked up (2) and Kerley had a (DNF).

progress score ; Comets (16) Jets (7) Dolphins (17)

Division five  Childs (6) Clarke (5) Forester (4) Aston (3) Makepeace (2) Brown (1)

progress score ; Comets ( 25) Jets (15) Dolphins (21)

Division four and Vella (6) takes the points from Kinross (5) Bentley (4) Debattista (3) Wilkie (2) Millikin (1) Debattista went down after sliding while in the lead and Millikin had no-where to go but hard into the fence , both riders re-mounted and finished the race.

progress score ; Comets (34) Jets (24) Dolphins (24)

Division three ; and a maximum goes to the Jets via Walters (6) Chadwick (5) over Karpany (4) Sarah Kinross (3) Scott Kinross (2)Aston (1) Boy the Dolphins sure missed Farren Wills today.

progress score ; Comets ( 39) Jets ( 35) Dolphins (29)

Division two ; Local boy , Priest picks up (6) over Joel Chadwick (5) Geertsen (4) Fitzpatrick (3) McMillan (2) Bax (1) Daniel Bax was unlucky to throw a chain in this race and coasted around to finish the last lap scooter style with one foot on the ground pushing the bike.He still got his point and wasn't lapped.

progress score ; Comets ( 47) Jets (41) Dolphins (36)

Over 30's and let me tell you these guys were playing for keeps today and I know there are going to be some pretty sore riders out of this lot tomorrow. I saw big Robert Fleming take a beast of a fall and not race the last race and had a badly swollen knee after the racing. (see the most amazing crash on Youtube under the heading , Worst crash of 2008!)

I was getting a bit ahead of myself there as I know whats coming.

The first race ended like this , a maximum to the Jets pair Greenhalgh (6) Hoppo (5) over White (4) Fleming (3) Schultz (2) Thompson (-)

progress score ; Comets ( 49) Jets (52) Dolphins (43)

Division one ; Priest comes up trumps with (6) over Pudney (5) Chadwick (4) Edson (3) Crisp (2) Gentle (1) after a fall and remount while Cameron crisp has a bit of work to do on his rear wheel when quite a few spokes were taken out during the race.

progress score ; Comets (56) Jets (59) Dolphins (50)   ( END OF THE FIRST RUN-THROUGH.)

Back to div 7 again where Norman again picked up (6) to make a maximum for the Dolphins when Bird scored (5) over Ratcliff (4) Forester (3) Schultz (2) Snowden (1)

progress score ; Comets ( 61) Jets (64) dolphins (61)

Division six ; Another maximum goes to Bryant (6) and Clarke (5) over Norman (4) Bird (3) Ratcliff (2) and Kerley (1)

progress score ; Comets (72) Jets (67) Dolphins (68)

Division five ; Child scores (6) over Clarke (5) Forester (4) Mowbray (3) Aston (2) Makepeace (1)

progress score ; Comets (81) Jets (74 ) Dolphins ( 73)

Division four ; Debattista takes the win for (6) over Kinross (5) Karpany (4) Stevenson (3) Millikin (2) Evans (1)

progress score ; Comets ( 87) Jets ( 83) Dolphins (79)

Division three ; A maximum for the Jets Jolly (6) Chadwick (5) over Scott Kinross (4) Sarah Kinross (3) Karpany (2) Aston (1)

progress score ; Comets (94 ) Jets (94 ) dolphins (82)

Division two ; Geertsen picks up (6) over Joel chadwick (5) Priest (4) Fitzpatrick (3) McMillan (2) Bax , who fell , (1)

progress score ; Comets ( 100) Jets (100) Dolphins (91)

Over 30's ; White picks up a handy (6) over Greenhalgh (5) Hoppo (4) Fleming (3) Thompson (2) Schultz (1)  This is the race I mentioned earlier when all six riders hit the deck on the first corner and Fleming injured his knee and Greenhalgh stayed down for a while , although to be fair Nigel has copped a couple of really hard ones lately.

progress score ; Comets (103) Jets (109) Dolphins (100)

Division one ; Pudney and Edson had a coming together in this race with Edson hitting the fence hard , backwards! The points went to Crisp (6) Gentle (5) Chadwick (4) Priest (3) Pudney (2) Edson (1)

progress score ; Comets (111) Jets (114) Dolphins (108)    (END OF THE SECOND RUN-THROUGH)

Last run-through and there is absolutely nothing in it!

Division seven ; A great start to the Dolphins pair , who only dropped a point on the day , when they reeled off another maximum with Norman having his own max for the day with (6) and Bird with (5) over Ratcliff (4) Forester (3) Snowden (2) and Schultz (1)

progress score ; Comets (115) Jets (120) Dolphins (119)

Division six ; a thrid straight maximum to the Comets pair and a third straight to Bryant (6)as well . Clarke picked up (5) over Norman (4)Kerley (3) Bird (2) Ratcliff (-)

progress score ; Comets (126) Jets (123) Dolphins (125)

Division five ; Comets , Clarke gets (6) over Makepeace (5) Childs (4) Mowbray (3) Forester (2) Aston (-)

progress score ; Comets (134) Jets (132) Dolphins (128)

Division four ; The Jets pair of Vells (6) and Debattista (5) pull off a timely maximum over Millikin (4) Bentley (3) Kinross (2) and Karpany (1)

progress score ; Comets (139) Jets (143) dolphins (133)

Division three ; and another big maximum to the Jets by way of Walter (6) and Jolly (5) over Sarah Kinross (4) Scott Kinross (3) Aston (2) and Karpany (1)

progress score ; Comets ( 146) Jets (154) Dolphins (136)

Division two ; Another maximum to the Jets pair when brothers Cody Chadwick gets (6) over Joel (5) Geertsen (4) McMillan (3) Priest (2) and Fitzpatrick (1)

progress score ; Comets (151) Jets (165) Dolphins (141)

Over thirties ; Greenhalgh takes thw in and (6) over White (5) Hoppo (4) Dobie (3) Schultz (2) Fleming (scratched)

progress score ; Comets (156) Jets (175) dolphins (146)

Division one ; Last race of the day and a win goes to Pudney (6) over Priest (5) Crisp (4) Gentle (3) Chadwick (2) and Edson (1)

Progress and final  score ; Comets (164) Jets (178) Dolphins (156)

Well thats done and dusted for another year as the Jets power away to a win. The shield was presented to Jets captain (and Aussie Junior world cup Captain) Cody Chadwick by Australian Speedway Council President (and LeFevre club President) Bill Rufus. All the pics were snapped of the winning team and they did their victory lap. You know there's only one thing missing from these type of championship and thts the singing of a club song .

I don't know if any of the clubs have a victory song , but it would certainly add to the occaision if they did.

What a great meet! I'm glad I didn't miss it.
