POOLE PIRATES
POOLE went back to the top of the Elite League table with a hard fought 50-42 win over Lakeside at Wimborne Road.
Chris Holder and Bjarne Pedersen were the top Pirates riders with 11-points each and Lakeside were without star man Andreas Jonsson who was on paternity leave.
Pirates boss Neil Middleditch said: “I thought we did very well particularly as we had a couple of riders struggling to keep up the pace.”
SHEFFIELD TIGERS
JAMES Birkinshaw has turned down the chance of a return to his parent club Sheffield.
Birkinshaw, axed by Birmingham at the weekend, looked set for a short term deal back at Owlerton.
But he said: “My heart isn’t really in it if I’m honest and that wouldn’t be fair to Sheffield. I still feel a bit deflated about things right now so it’s best to give it a miss.”
