SHEFFIELD Tigers were thumped 59-35 by King’s Lynn at the Norfolk Arena on Wednesday.

They could find no answer to the top end strength of the Stars with big-hitters Kevin Doolan, Tomas Topinka and Rusty Harrison all in great form.

Guest reserve Ben Powell suffered in a nasty crash and was forced to pull out of the meeting as a precautionary measure after his second ride, which hardly helped Sheffield’s cause.

Skipper Andre Compton was nominated for a tactical ride in his second outing but he was forced to settle for second place behind the impressive Harrison. The 5-3 race win sparked a brief recovery for Eric Boocock’s men.

And Joel Parsons deserves credit for the way he battled past John Oliver for double-points from a 15-metre handicap in Heat 12.

But Lynn’s all-round strength shone through with a dominating performance in the last three races to give the final scoreline a more emphatic appearance.

KING’S LYNN: Tomas Topinka 15, Kevin Doolan 14+1, Rusty Harrison 11+1, Simon Lambert 7+1, John Oliver 7, Kozza Smith 5+2, Shaun Tacey 0.

SHEFFIELD: Joel Parsons 13+1, Andre Compton 9+1 , Ricky Ashworth 4+1, Ben Wilson 4, Paul Cooper 3+1, Kyle Hughes 1, Ben Powell 1.
