High flying Somerset provide the Racers' opposition for the crunch Premier League clash at Smallmead Stadium on Sunday 10 August (6.00 p.m.).
The meeting is generously sponsored by the Spearpoint Racing Team, who are long-term supporters of the sport.
The Rebels have come an awful long way since first opening for business as a Conference League side in 2000. In 2001, they won the Conference Trophy and the Knock-Out Cup. After just two seasons at Conference level, they joined the Premier League.
Then, in 2005, they were crowned Four-Team Champions. And, in 2006 and 2007, they battled through to the final of the Knock-Out Cup, losing on both occasions to King's Lynn.
This year, the team who race at the Oak Tree Arena in Edithmead, near Highbridge, have, thus far, enjoyed a wonderful league and Knock-Out Cup campaign.
The side's league results have been excellent and they currently top the standings. At home, after their recent victory over Reading, they boasted a 100 per cent record, with eleven wins out of eleven.
On the road, the Rebels have been victorious in four out of eight matches; their four defeats occurring at Scunthorpe, King's Lynn, Workington and Glasgow.
Meanwhile, in the KOC, Somerset eased past Newcastle in the first round, before defeating the Racers at the quarter-final hurdle. They now look forward to facing Rye House at the semi-final stage later this month.
Racers' promoter Malcolm Holloway commented: "Last Monday against Newcastle, the lads produced just about their best team performance of the season so far, with solid points throughout the side.
"It was very pleasing to see, that's for sure. We really must keep that kind of showing firmly in mind if we are to repel what will be a very strong challenge from Somerset on Sunday evening.
"They have a set of riders who go very well at Smallmead, especially their flying No. 1, Jason Doyle.
"A win is so important to both sides. Obviously, Somerset will want to maintain their challenge near the head of the standings, but we are still ambitious and want to get back into a top-four position.
"It is going to be another thrilling meeting and we must try to ensure that it's the Racers who come out on top, so I'm hoping our supporters will really get behind the lads and give them every encouragement."
Changes to Reading's riding order see Tomas Suchanek move up to the No. 2 berth, with Chris Mills slotting in at No. 4, while Tom P. Madsen takes over at No. 5.
Meanwhile, Danny Warwick has finally completed sufficient meetings (3 home and 3 away) to gain an interim average, so his new 4.46 figure comes into play on Sunday, although he remains in the No. 7 berth.
For Somerset, Simon Walker is a doubtful starter; the rider having sustained injuries is to his lower back and vertebra in heat twelve of the Knock-Out Cup encounter between the two sides at Smallmead on 29 June. Should he fail to make the trip, the Rebels will operate the rider replacement facility, with Emil Kramer taking over the captaincy.
