The Scunthorpe Telegraph have emphasised their support for Scunthorpe Speedway by agreeing to sponsor the free meeting on Friday 1st August.
The meeting, a Conference League match between the Scunthorpe Saints and Sittingbourne Crusaders, is seen as an excellent introduction for people who haven’t attended a meeting at the Eddie Wright Raceway, a racetrack which is fast developing a reputation for providing the best speedway racing in the country.
Vouchers for the meeting are set to appear in next week’s Scunthorpe Telegraph; starting with Tuesday night when the Sports Extra supplement carries its regular double-page spread on speedway. The vouchers will certainly appear in Wednesday’s edition and it is hoped they will also appear on the day of the meeting.
Commenting on the deal Scunthorpe Speedway Promoter Rob Godfrey wanted to thank the town’s paper for their sponsorship “The Telegraph give us excellent coverage and their sponsorship of this meeting is a real boost. A free speedway meeting must be one of the best offers they have given their readers and next Friday is sure to be a great night. The whole race programme will be geared to new fans and the match night presenter will explain what is happening as we go along. It should be a great atmosphere as the Saints continue to fight for a playoff spot and one thing is certain, there will be some fantastic racing, there always is!”
Friday’s meeting will start at 7.30pm and the Eddie Wright Raceway is situated on Normanby road about a mile north of the town. There will be the usual charge (£1) for use of the club car park.
