Mildenhall Speedway: New signings hinted at.

The Mildenhall Fen Tigers scheduled Premier League clash with Stoke last Sunday was unfortunately postponed with an early decision made on Sunday morning . No new date has been agreed with the Stoke promotion as yet for the re-staging.

The call off came on a day when the sun actually shone for a change but came after a week of heavy rain and a stock car meeting the previous night that left the track in a condition that it was unable to be adequately worked on and prepared. In addition there had been electrical problems with the stadium tannoy system and the control panel had developed a fault and there would have been no loudspeakers to announce the results .

The Fen Tigers had the full co-operation of Dave Coventry , the new landlord at West Row, and the club are now working even closer on various aspects and have already agreed that next year they  will avoid trying to run the day after the stock car  big meetings if this is possible.
With mention of  next year the club  are already planning ahead for 2009 and hope to make an announcement with regard to this very soon. This has been , so far, a season to forget but for a few bright spots –like the emergence of Jan Graversen and promise of Jari Makinen , but the promotion are still 110% behind the Fen Tigers.

Team Manager and Club Director ,Laurence Rogers has been burning the telephone wires taking to riders all over the world and using his contact base in several countries to bring in new riders but this is no easy task. He is hoping that he may have some good news very soon, “ I have two particular targets in mind and hope that we can conclude a deal with them very soon. It would be a boost to have them signed and sealed in time for our Northern tour this weekend to Workington (Saturday) and Glasgow (Sunday). But I am awaiting replies from them before finalising the deals.”

With the side away this weekend there is no meeting at West Row and the next home action is on Sunday 27th July against Workington.
