WOLVERHAMPTON aim to put a dent in Lakeside's play-off ambitions when they head to Purfleet for more Elite League action on Friday (8pm).

It's the last outing for both sides before the top flight closes down for a week because of the World Cup - and there's plenty of interest in that for both sides.

Andreas Jonsson, Jonas Davidsson and Lubos Tomicek of Lakeside are all involved and Wolves trio Freddie Lindgren, Niels Kristian Iversen and Ales Dryml are also included.

This could be the final outing for some Wolves riders as the club are still actively searching for a new signing to bolster their squad - but it's proving difficult.

Both Peter Karlsson and Mikael Max have been in talks with their former club - but a clash of fixtures and other logistical problems have ruled out a return for both.

Boss Peter Adams said: "We're trying every avenue possible but it's proving to be a big problem. We cannot sign a rider with the knowledge he may miss meetings.

"For now we have to focus on Lakeside and see if we can pull off what would be regarded as a shock win."

As a consequence of Great Britain's World Cup event at Coventry on Monday, the next Monmore Green action is on July 21 against Eastbourne.
