Wolverhampton are the Showground visitors on Thursday, which will be the last home match for July due in part to the Speedway World Cup which starts next week.
Like the Panthers the Wolves haven't had a great start to the season and they currently lie at the bottom of the Elite League table, it would however be foolish to write them off as they possess enough talent and Showground experience in particular to pull off a result and supporters will need no reminding that they ran us very close in the A fixture.
Wolves Captain Freddie Lindgren has enjoyed several good meetings at Peterborough and his back up Niels Kristian Iversen, David Howe and Ales Dryml have all had excellent meetings at the Showground, another ex Panthers Christian Hefenbrock completes the top five, it's not known if he rides, as he was injured at the weekend and was already ruled out of Mondays fixture at Wolves before rain caused the postponement.
Nicolai Klindt, a one time Panther' target rides at reserve following the new July Green Sheet Averages and he partners Kenneth Hansen who has shown well in past visits that he likes our wide open spaces at Peterborough.
Their has been considerable speculation recently regarding changes to the Wolves team with the issue of new 2008 Green Sheet Averages for Wolverhampton on the 1st July, but as of yet nothing seems to have materialised although that could change at any time.
The Panthers have no change to the line up which saw off Belle Vue last week other than the change at no 7, team manager Trevor Swales was hoping to finalise this as we went to press but this will be released when confirmed.
Their can be no denying that the team shuffle played a big part in the teams success last week and a week on Panthers will be hoping for more of the same.
Team Manager Trevor Swales said: "I just hope we can continue where we left off last week against Belle Vue, all the riders clicked on the night and it was a great performance, despite the Wolves position we can take absolutely nothing for granted and we will be giving them the utmost respect. They have a lot of riders who ride Alwalton well and I cannot see this match being anything other than yet another hard match. Niels Kristen Iversen will probably be out to prove a point but he isn't the only rider in their ranks that could spring a surprise”.
Co Promoter Mick Bratley said: "This is a must win for us, to enable us to get a bit of cushion from the relegation zone, and continue going up the league in the right direction. Traditionally Wolves never travel very well to the Showground, but they pushed us very close in the 'A' fixture earlier this season, however, since then we have added Bager to our side and he and the recent change in riding order seems to have improved the side."
