Flat Track Racing: Flat Track of Nations exceeded it's promise!

The spectators and fans were treated with the hardest racing ever seen on the European continent! 28 riders from 7 nations went wide open after the valuable points under the hot Bavarian sun!

Several engines went up in smoke as the 1000m cushion track lived up to it's engine killing reputation! With fantastic team spirit amongst the riders, the remaining bikes were shared within the teams and beyond.

The title defenders from Great Britain were challenged hard from all corners. Jens Hinrichs on his GST KTM and Tommy Kunert on his Huber Aprilia from Germany, Oege de Jong on his KTM & Mick Jansen on his Dutch-Brothers KTM from the Netherlands, Marco Belli on the Ariete Kawasaki from Italy, Dani Müller on the Supertrapp Harley-Davidson from Switzerland. The tension rose with every race, and so did the heat!

The only shade to be found was in the old paddock where live band WOMAN was getting the party started! Surprise of the day came out of the French corner! Philippe Stella, James Brun & Damien Bomais, all supported by Mefo, kept their heads down and the throttles open to grab point after point. And this while the friendly trio was racing on Maxxis DTR tires for the first time!

With so many races and so many riders, the tension was rising, who will be in the final? Then came the announcement from the referee: Great Brittain, France, Italy & the Netherlands! 12 long laps under the grueling Bavarian sun, top speeds well over 160km/h, will the engines last? Marco First, Steve Hall and Oege de Jong close behind. Oege de Jong up in second and closing in on Marco Belli.

Then Oege de Jong went wide and Steve Hall passed inside. Oege de Jong closing in again, but it was too late... Marco Belli crossed the line first, Steve hall second, Oege de jong third, Philippe Stella fourth, Pete Boast fifth, James Brun, Tim Greig, Damien Bomais, Mick Jansen, Dario Magnoni & Luca Talamona.

Great Britain won again! After their success in the short track of nations in 2007, they won the flat track of nations in 2008! France second and Italy third!

Many thanks to IGOL & MSC Mühldorf for this fantastic day!

See you 12 July in Marianske Lazne for round 3 of the International Mefo Sport Flattrack Cup!
