Panthers produced easily their best start to a match this year over Belle Vue to end a losing streak and restore some pride and confidence.
Right from the off they tore into the Aces and after three races were 10 points up with the team shuffle recently looking to have worked some magic especially for Claus Vissing, whose new pairing with Hans Andersen looks very promising.
Most eyes were on Andersen and Crump in heat 1 but it was young Vissing who caught the eye with a superb start to lead early on, Andersen quickly joined him and it quickly became clear that it was going to stay that way with Crump struggling after being completely filled in.
Morten Risager trapped to lead heat 2 but Simon Lambert battled gamely with Mear to take the second spot and Panthers had opened with two 5-1's.
It looked initially that it was going the same way in heat 3 when Kenneth Bjerre and Henning Bager led early on but Billy Forsberg found a way through on the inside of Bager to split ther home pair and reduce the damage.
Danny King won the 4th to ensure a share of the spoils, taking advantage of Joe Screens machine giving up the ghost yards from the line as they raced for the flag .
Crump appeared as a tactical in the 5th and he stormed away to win quite easily but Bjerre and Bager filled the minor places to at least restrict the advantage.
4-2's were then traded between the teams in heats 6 & 7 before Vissing came up with the goods again by winning heat 8 although he was chased all the way by an improving Patrick Hougaard.
Screen won a tight battle early on with Bjerre to take the 9th but the 10th raised some concern with Vissing ending up in the second bend air fence following a brush with Forsberg, in the rerun with Forsberg excluded Andersen and Vissing got the 5-1 whilst Screen harried all the way with no success.
The Aces got a 5-1 of their own in 11 as Crump was eventually followed home by Bridger who gradually got the better of King whilst riding the outside line to good effect.
Bridger was introduced again in 12 this time as a tactical substitute of 15 metres, and he chased down and past Lambert for an Aces advantage but another Bjerre win ensured this was limited and with three races to go Panthers led by 8.
Andersen made the better start to lead the 13th but Crump wound it on down the back straight and going wide into the dirt found enough grip to get by the Panthers Captain to win comfortably in the end, although with Screen pegged at the rear by King it was to no advantage.
Risager and Bager wrapped up a good nights works for the team as they raced away for the fourth maximum of the night in heat 14, although the Aces pair pushed them hard all the way.
Crump and Screen both got away early on to lead heat 15 but Bjerre quickly caught and passed Screen and gave Crump some hard times initially, but it finished advantage Belle Vue although Panthers final winning margin of 10 points was well deserved.
All in all this was a great result for Peterborough with both new rider pairings looking a lot more productive and a lot more passion and confidence being shown all round.
Several riders were in the running for the man of the match award, not least Simon Lambert who did an excellent job at no 7, but it was Kenneth Bjerre who got the award and his smiles all round said it all.
