Following the unprecedented success of last weekend’s FIM British Speedway Grand Prix, BSI Speedway - rights holders of the world championship FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series (SGP) - has announced tickets for the 2009 event are now on sale.
The 2009 FIM British Speedway Grand Prix will take place at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium on 27 June 2009 and fans who book their tickets before the 01 September 2008 will get up to 10% off 2008 prices!
Paul Bellamy, Managing Director, BSI Speedway, explained: “We understand that the FIM British Speedway Grand Prix can be an expensive weekend and that is why we have discounted prices with the cheapest adult ticket now under £30.
“Last Saturday’s event was the biggest speedway crowd at the Millennium Stadium and we realise that for this to continue we have to take into account that purse strings are being tightened. By going on sale early we can offer fans a discount and give them the opportunity to plan for 2009.”
Australian Jason Crump won Saturday’s Grand Prix, with Great Britain’s Scott Nicholls also reaching the final – the second successive year a British rider has made it through to the last race of the night.
Bellamy continued: “Saturday night had everything, great racing, controversy and all round entertainment for the whole family. Great Britain’s Scott Nicholls was desperately unlucky to touch the tapes and miss out on finishing on the podium, but it goes to show that the FIM British Speedway Grand Prix is the race every rider wants to win and we have now had two years with a Brit in the final following Chris Harris win in 2007. It is without doubt one of the biggest and best sporting events in the UK and one that no sports fan can afford to miss.”
