Having not attended at these championships ,due to a promised free fishing trip coming to fruition , I cant make many comments on the racing other than what I've been told or seen on video and stills.
Firstly I know the weather was a bit suspect as I was out in it all night , but i also know that the Salisbury track revells in plenty of water and soaks it up pretty well. This also lends toward fantastic traction and fast racing , making it a most welcome change from the slippery track last week.
I have seen video footage of the racing and the track looked perfect and was virtually unmarked during racing with a little bit of water laying right on the inside of the track and corners. The locals would be suited by this track , for sure.
My wife , Mandy took the pictures for this meet , and got the official results so I can do this report , many thanks.
Now for the results....Mick Harley was the Refferee.
Fifty eight riders turned up for the Salisbury clubs Patrons Open , and , browsing through the results , a couple of upsets happened on the day , firstly in div three and in the Open class.
Firstly the Tinytots that competed and all recieved a momento of their racing with a trophy each , and they were.Emma Nichols,Emily Makepeace,Emily Carden,Cassidy Hamilton-Smith,Jye Marrollo,Robert Corsaro,Locke Pearce ,Jacob Pudney and Blair Bevan.
Division Seven saw eight starters with 2X4 heats to separate four riders for the final , all raced over two laps. Through the heats two riders were setting the pace with maximums each. Those riders were Michael Ratcliff and Jack Norman , while Mathew snowden was on the pace also with his (12)giving him grid three. There looked like there was a ride-off between Peter Marrollo and Connor Hayes which was won by Marrollo for grid four.
Both riders scored (8).The final was taken out by Jack Norman over Michael Ratcliff , Mathew Snowden and Peter Marrollo.
Division six with five starters over three laps.Another upset in this division when Joshua Carden has broken throgh for a fantastic win after tying for top qualifier with Jake Kerley , both with (16). The final standing was Josh Carden first , Jake Kerley second over Luke Poole and Loky Fawcett.
Division Five also with five riders over three laps. I don't know what went wrong in this division as only last week at Findon there was was over double that amount , with elleven riders. Shane Bentley won from Braden Makepeace , Plymouth Christian and Billy bax.
Division Four and ten riders raced 2X5 over three laps and the State and Aussie champ , Josh Debattista , on his home track was always going to be a hard task . accordinly , he took pole with a maximum. On grid two was , either Robbie Vella or Nicole Kinross as they tied on (12) and would have tossed for the position.
Grid four went to Michael Karpany on (12). The final went to , Josh Debattista over Robbie Vella , Nicole Kinross and Michael Karpany.
Division three with seven starters over three laps. Another upset here when Anthony Daniels broke through for his first championship win when he took advantage of mistakes by others to take the win , still a wins a win and we'll take any coming our way.Having qualified with a maximum and on pole was the ever reliable Farren Wills , qualifying on grid two with (14) was Dean jolly.
On grid three was Jay Walters on (12) who is having a great year on the 26" bike. The last grid was a ride-off between Anthony Daniels and Scott Kinross , both on (10). History will show that Daniels won and went into the final on grid four.Apparently Wills, Jolly and Walters were too busy worrying about each other and allowed Daniels to sneak under them and go on to the win,Congratulations Anthony ,well done!
Over 30's over four laps and as only a couple of riders turned up they got first and second handed to them after five ride to see who would get what.
John Hill has now made it two from two with a win over Frank Jones.
Division two over four laps and only five starters meant only one was missing out on a trophy. After five races they sorted out the order the trophies were presented in and who missed that last spot. The win went to the top scorer , Joel chadwick on (19) over Daniel Bax (15) and it looks like Bobby McMillan and Tony Bax , both on (8) , had to toss for the remaining two grids with McMillan picking up third over Bax.
Division one over four laps for eight starters.Top qualifier with a maxmimum was Cody Chadwick who took pole for the final . Nigel Greenhalgh who tied and obviously tossed a coin with Ross Priest on (13)for grids two and three. Grid four went to Robert Fitzpatrick. Judging by the Final positions Priest was having some trouble with either Chadwick or Fitzpatrick or both as he got fourth.
The big winner was Nigel Greenhalgh over Robert Fitzpatrick and third went to Cody Chadwick.
