Buoyant Birmingham Monarchs aim to beat Leicester Monarchs in an attractive looking clash this Sunday (June 22nd) afternoon, 2pm.
The inform Birmingham side, enjoying their best season for several years, will be hoping to notch a rare victory over the east midlanders to cement their championship challenge. It is nearly ten years since Birmingham beat Leicester in senior action.
The Midland League match will go-ahead at Perry Hall Playing Fields, Perry Barr, with the Monarchs still bubbling after a sensational away win at Premier League giants Sheffield two weeks ago.
Birmingham will welcome back key second string Carl Winwood to strengthen their middle order. Winwood missed the away trip to Sheffield after picking up an injury in training and he partners the ace gating Marcus Wadhams in the opening pairing.
Hopes of club stalwart Andy James returning to action have again been dashed. The 36 year old has been sidelined with a back injury since last winter and a practice session two weeks ago ended in the injury being to painful to allow James to consider a track return.
Explosive Polish star Dominik Rycharski, just back from a short trip to his homeland, will be hoping to continue his fine display at Sheffield with another powerful performance. His partnership with teenage sensation Chris Timms is one of the strongest in British Cycle Speedway and may well turn Sundays match Birmingham’s way.
This Sunday match is free to all spectators. The Cycle Speedway track can be found in the far right hand corner of Perry Hall Playing Fields and onlookers can expect two hours of top class action.

Birmingham heat leader Mark Winwood scored heavily in last Saturdays Home International in Ipswich, Suffolk. Representing Wales, Winwood returned a swashbuckling 11 points to steer Wales to runners-up spot behind victorious England.
