All eyes this weekend turn to the Home International taking in place at Great Blakenham on the outskirts of Ipswich.

This years event has already been a major challenge for the Scottish side without a wheel having been turned.  Team Manager Gav Kennedy is already faced with the prospect of losing the services of Craig Newsome due to holidays, Mikey Hewitson broken scaphoid and Chris Shylock injured ankle. 

This coupled with the unfortunate decision of the Cycle Speedway Commission to allow a switch of international allegiance of number one Marcus Wadhams from Scotland to England.  This decision, which was discussed and taken by the board whilst no Scottish Team Manager was in place, has led to all manner of debate within the sport.

On the other side there is the return to form of Alan Smith, who on his day is able to beat the best and the much looked forward to international debut of Jake Slight.

This will be an extremely tough fixture for the Scots and as is mostly the case with this fixture the outcome will likely depend on how strong a Team England decide to field.  Current holders Wales will be determined not to give up their title without a fight and Ireland are now able to field several riders with Premier League experience.
