Lakeside Hammers Speedway: Hammers keep focussed.

Despite there being no action at the Arena-Essex Raceway this Friday the Hammers riders are keeping fully focused as they now look to face Poole in a vital top of the table clash the following Friday, 30th May.

Following their superb victory over Eastbourne last Friday, which saw the Hammers come from behind to claim the important two League points, the team had expected a relatively easy couple of weeks. However that has all changed following a further amendment to the fixtures that now sees them revert back to facing the Poole Pirates, who were originally lined up to be their opposition on 30th May.

The Pirates will provide the Hammers with a supreme test, especially as they have on form Pole, Adam Skornicki at reserve for them. The Hammers Co Promoter and Team Manager Jon Cook is looking forward to the visit of the Pirates and stated: “We must remain focused during this break from team racing as we cannot afford to slip up at home against the Pirates. They are likely to provide us with a stern test but I believe we will be up to the challenge. “

Even though there is no team action this week three of the Hammers riders will be competing in this Saturday’s Speedway Grand Prix in Sweden. GP regular Andreas Jonsson will be joined by Jonas Davidsson, who has been given the ‘Wild Card’ and Lubos Tomicek, who replaces Poole’s injured Dane Bjarne Pedersen. In addition Joonas Kylmakorpi will be racing in the first round of this season’s World Longtrack GP in the Czech Republic.

Jon Cook commented: “I just goes to show how far this Club has progressed with four of the team racing this weekend at the very top level in the World. I wish them all the best of luck for Saturday and look forward to seeing them back here racing for the Hammers the following Friday. Life is definitely on the up for the Club but my main aim is to see the Hammers progress into this season’s play-offs. We already have the Craven Shield Final against Coventry to look forward to and I am convinced we are in for some exciting times here at the Arena-Essex Raceway this season.”
