WOLVERHAMPTON boss Peter Adams has dropped a big hint that changes could be on the way after Monday's 48-43 defeat by Ipswich at Monmore Green.

Adams was fuming after the latest setback which leaves his side needing away wins desperately to keep their hopes of a top four place alive.

He said: "June is on the way and with the new set of averages for rider control purposes we will need to look at it very closely. It's obviously not working for us at the moment."

Parrys International Wolves were in a comfortable 16-8 lead after just four races but there was a dramatic turnaround when the visitors were handed a 5-0 whitewash in the next race with Danish duo Niels Kristian Iversen and Nicolai Klindt excluded for seperate incidents.

Ipswich recorded consecutive 5-1s in Heats 8 and 9 with their riders stronger in the first bends and Swiderski superb in moving Iversen aside in the latter.

Wolverhampton's hopes of a fightback then took a major dent when Ales Dryml was adjudged the cause of a spectacular Heat 10 three-man pile-up involving Steve Johnston and Tobias Kroner - and David Howe dropped a chain in the next race.

Swiderski excelled himself by holding both Iversen and Lindgren, riding as a tactical substitute off a 15-metre handicap, at bay in Heat 12, and the Pole was at it again in the penultimate race to secure the win for his team.

Wolverhampton's 5-1 maximum in the last race was nothing more than consolation as skipper Lindgren and fellow Dane Iversen got the better of guest Eddie Kennett.

WOLVES: Fredrik Lindgren 16, David Howe 7, Niels-Kristian Iversen 6+3, Christian Hefenbrock 5, Ales Dryml 4, Nicolai Klindt 3, Kenneth Hansen 2+1.

IPSWICH: Piotr Swiderski 12+1, Jarek Hampel 10, Edward Kennett 8+1, Robert Miskowiak 8+1, Steve Johnston 4, Tobias Kroner 3+2, Chris Schramm 3+1.
