Wolverhampton are the Panthers opponents at Alwalton on Thursday and that means a Showground return for Peterborough assets Niels Kristian Iversen and Ales Dryml.

Ex Panther’s David Howe and Christian Hefenbrock are also part of the 2008 squad and the team is completed by GP newcomer Freddie Lindgren and young Danish youngsters Nicolai Klindt and Kenneth Hansen.

The Wolves haven’t had the best of starts to the season but are expected to provide the Panthers with another stern test at Alwalton, bearing in mind that most of the team either have years of experience of the Showground track or have ridden it well on past occasions.

Thursday will also see the return of Henning Bager in Panthers colours and he will be partnering Captain Hans Andersen in the opening heat as he takes over the difficult no 2 race jacket, with Morten Risager moving down into the reserves.

Panther’s bosses are hoping that this change to the team will have an immediate effect on providing some much needed points both in the main body of the team and at reserve, but haven’t ruled out further changes to the line up in the future should they be needed.

Team Manager Trevor Swales said: “I think this will be another hard meeting and our team will have to be at the top of their game to win, Wolverhampton has plenty of riders that are more than capable around our track and I’m sure that Niels and Ales will be out to prove a point.

I am expecting Henning to make a difference and the fact that Morten is at reserve should help as well, he could easily produce a big score from that position”.

Promoter Colin Horton said: “I think this will be a close match and I am really looking forward to seeing how our assets Ales & Neils have come on this year.

I think having Henning at no 2 will be important to us and he will undoubtedly make us more solid in the team, the fact that Morten goes down to reserve will also benefit us and him, its just what he needs to get himself going again and I can see him going from strength to strength as a result of this move”.
