ISLE OF WIGHT SPEEDWAY
ISLE of Wight boss Martin Newnham was in a jubilant mood after seeing his side edge out Sheffield in a Knockout Cup thriller at Smallmead Stadium.
The injury-hit Islanders won 54-38 on the night, that’s 92-90 on aggregate , after an entertaining night of racing.
Said Newnham: “That was dramatic, that was brave, that was brilliant and make no mistake, the Isle of Wight are up for the cup!"
NEWPORT WASPS
NEWPORT’S immediate future will become clear by Thursday morning at the latest.
The sad passing of club owner Tim Stone has put the club in doubt and the British Speedway Promoters’ Association are desperately trying to gain further information about the legal situation.
Chairman Peter Toogood said: “We naturally want to see Newport continue so we extended the deadline by 24-hours based on information we received.”
