Rye House Speedway: Woffinden Dream Display in Rockets Nightmare.

This was a night largely to forget for the Silver Ski Rockets, who were trampled by a ruthless Somerset team fresh from a 15 point victory at Redcar the previous evening, and which is looking to be a serious contender for this year’s silverware.

The Rockets were salvaged by a magnificent display from Tai Woffinden, who contributed over half the side’s points total and was beaten only by Emil Kramer in Heat 4. Woffinden went on to reel off four straight race wins, including one when nominated for double points, and ended every Rebel’s maximum hopes.

There was very little else of cheer for travelling Rye supporters. Robert Mear and Luke Bowen kept Brent Werner at the rear of the field for a one and a half laps in Heat 8, and Stefan Ekberg missed out for second against Mattias Kroger right on the line in Heat 14, but every race not featuring Woffinden eventually finished as a Somerset 5-1.

Rye House scorers:
Chris Neath   3 (5 rides)
Luke Bowen   1 (4)
Tai Woffinden   17 (5 rides, inc 6 as a TR)
Tommy Allen   R/R
Stefan Ekberg   3 (5)
Danny Halsey   0 (5)
Robert Mear   3 (6)
Matt Bates (No.8)  dnr

Somerset scorers:
Jason Doyle   10+1 (4)
Jordon Frampton  8+3 (4)
Emil Kramer   13 (5)
Matthias Kroger  7+3 (4)
Stefan Katt   10+1 (4)
Simon Walker   11+2 (5)
Brent Werner   7+4 (4)
