WildKaRD Software: '5-1 Speedway Promoter' on it's way!

The team manager should have used the tactical substitute earlier? Why did the promoter sign that overseas rider when they could have used the British teenager? You’ve said that all season. You’re convinced that you could do a better job.

A promoter’s job is not an easy one. It’s not just a simple case of fitting seven riders under the points limit. You need to keep all parties happy be it the riders, the bank manager or even the fans coming through the turnstiles. It’s very easy to criticize them when your team is losing. Do you really think you could do better?

Well, now’s your chance to prove it!

WildKaRD Software is currently developing the "5-1 Speedway Promoter" management simulation.

Now you get to sign the riders. You get to run the team. Win or lose, it’s all down to you. Take control of your favourite team now or build a team from scratch. You will need to use all your skill and knowledge of riders and tracks to cope with everything that fortune, the British weather and unscrupulous adversaries will throw at you. Will your overseas rider be available for the re-run of a rained off meeting? Can you get the paying public to come through your turnstiles? Will the gate receipts cover your wage bill? Can you seal the big sponsorship deal? At the end of the season you will take your seat at the BSPA meeting to discus the following years points limits, British rider bonuses and also other rule changes.

The original concept came from Karl Roberts, a speedway fan from who attended his first meeting before his first birthday. Rob Searle compiled the rider statistics from his contacts with riders, management and fans. The program is being developed by Dave Lambert, who as a grasstrack rider and computer programmer can see things from both sides of the air-fence.

GAME FEATURES

• Ability to take over any existing team in the Elite, Premier and Conference leagues
• Create your own team from scratch and start in the Premier League
• Buy or loan riders from the existing teams or search for the next Chris Harris or Tomasz Gollob by scouting the UK or foreign leagues.
• Take control of the track at meetings by grading the track to suit your riders or get the track ready after the early morning rain nearly cancelled the meeting.
• Televised meetings to create greater revenue for your team.
• Control all the finances including rider wages, transfer fees, merchandising and gate receipts.
• Search for you own sponsors from a large list of current speedway related sponsors.
• Individual rider profiles including images provided by Mike Patrick.
• End of season promotion and relegation meeting
• Create an end of season challenge match to thank you fans for their support.
• At the end of the season attend a BSPA meeting to decide upon the following seasons rules including points limit, British rider bonuses

To give the game a fully realistic feel we are in discussions with GoSpeed Ltd, who own the media rights, to use all the UK teams names and logos. Each team will have it’s own screen incorporated into the game which will include details such as track location, race nights, website address, track records and contact details. We have also a comprehensive listing of speedway-related sponsors who have agreed to be used within the game so you will have the chance to search for your own sponsors from companies such as Eazy Oils, KanDysoft and Methanol Press to name but a few. While we have been given the permission to use a large amount of the current speedway sponsors we do not as yet have all of them. If you are a corporate sponsor or would simply like to see you company portrayed in the software then contact us for details.

A minimum of 10% of all game sales will be donated to the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund. A large percentage will also go towards sponsoring three British Under-21 riders who will be decided upon from suggestions given to us via our forum members.

You can keep abreast of the developments and be one of the first to know when the releases are to be published by signing up to the official "5-1 Speedway Promoter" forum at www.methdesignz.co.uk We are also running a few competitions for forum members to win copies of the game on the day of release. So to be in with a chance of winning, or to nominate a rider for sponsorship, sign up to the forum. To contact us regarding anything else send e-mails to fiveonespeedway@yahoo.co.uk
