A worrying injury situation is hamperig the "Buildbase" Tigers chances of overcoming a slump in form when the far travelled Isle of Wight arrive at Ashfield. Skipper Shane Parker, along with the young Australian duo of Mitchell Davey and Josh Grajczonek, will miss out on this fixture but boss Stewart Dickson has moved to fill the gap created by Parker by bringing in Ashfield track specialist Carl Stonehewer. Dickson explained the thinking behind this move:
"There is little doubt that Stoney has few equals around Ashfield and having won the Ashfield Classic on three separate occasions then his appearance should come as no surprise. I know that he has not yet got back into the form that took him into the Grand Prixs a few seasons ago, but there is something about Ashfield that really does bring out the best in him.
We are up against it at the moment and to lose out on three riders is a blow but it is up to the rest of the team to stand up and do the best that they can. They must dig deep and work as a unit to try to get that elusive win and then we can have a serious look at where we go from there. The Islanders though will give us another tough test as they are a useful outfit as their performances over Reading last week showed and they will be very keen to ge the win on Sunday too."
TEAMS:
GLASGOW: Trent Leverington, Josh Grajczonek r/r, Carl Stonehewer, Lee Dicken, Robert Ksiezak, Gary Beaton, Ross Brady

THE BEST OF THE REST:
Injury update: Shane Parker has a broken wrist and broken collar bone. At present it is hoped that an operation will not be necessary on either bone but will be monitored again over the next 7 days. At present, the 38 year old is showing some small signs of improvement with an easing of the pain but will still be absent for several weeks, although an exact timescale is not yet known.
Josh Grajczonek has suffered a broken bone in his wrist and hand. Again his time scale for returning is not confirmed by the medics and we will update accordingly. Mitchell Davey will sit out the meeting on Sunday but will practice on Monday with a view to returning for the two day southern tour to Birmingham and Sheffield.
The Tigers lost out both home and away to Newcastle. The home defeat was a sore one to take as it was a result that was unlikely at the half way point. A spirited effort at Newcastle fell short and all points were lost.
The Tigers are on their travels again and will visit Birmingham and Sheffield next week. The trip to Perry Bar will be the second of the season and having already won there this season it will be hoped that another excellent showing could be on the cards. Sheffield is a new venue for a couple of the team and should prove to be a very tough test for the team.
Next Sunday the Tigers will entertain Scunthorpe for the first time since their introduction to the Premier League. The Scorpians have made an impressive start to the senior ranks and will become a strong Premier League player in the years to come.
