Peterborough Speedway are pleased to announce that they have arranged a special admission offer for members of the Armed and Emergency Services, and that they hope this will encourage the service personnel of the surrounding bases and camps to attend the Showground on a regular basis.

Kerri Drew the Club Administrator for the Panthers came up with the idea after speaking to her brother who works nearby at RAF Cottismore.  Kerri said: "My brother has not been to Speedway for approx 5 years, and is in the RAF working as an air weapons technician, based at RAF Cottismore.  We invited him and five colleagues to a recent meeting and they all enjoyed it so much, it is to become a regular night out for them.  Then came the spark for this idea.  Peterborough has several barracks in the surrounding area and I thought we could offer special rates for our service men/women and show them a night of enjoyment and entertainment."

Peterborough Speedway certainly has a healthy catchment's area of Service Personnel with 10 RAF bases and 2 Army Barracks within, reasonable driving distance of the Showground.

Peterborough Speedway has additionally decided to extend the special admission offer to local Emergency personnel and will offer all these personnel admission to EL meetings at the concessionary rate of £10 on production of their approved identity card.

This offer will apply to staff and personnel from the following
Army
Royal Air Force
Royal Navy
Police
Fire Brigade
Ambulance Drivers & Paramedics
Nursing Staff

Peterborough Co Promoter Mick Bratley said:  "In light of the recent bad national publicity about RAF personnel not being able to wear their uniform in our city centre, it's satisfying to do something positive, for not only the RAF, but all other service and Emergency service personnel.  We will be writing to all the bases and Emergency services headquarters, with full details of our offer and some posters to display in their offices.  I think it's great to be seen doing something for our service personnel and I believe only ourselves and Lakeside have initiated this.  I would hope that other clubs will follow suit."
