Wolverhampton Speedway: Wolves back in the groove

WOLVERHAMPTON'S speedway stars got back to winning ways with a comfortable 59-33 win over Peterborough at Monmore Green.

Skipper Freddie Lindgren romped to an unbeaten 11+1 score for the home side - but it was a solid all-round team performance.

Peterborough were forced into nominating Hans Andersen for a tactical ride for double points as early as Heat 5, but former Panther Niels Kristian Iversen got the better of him to keep the Monmore men well ahead.

With rain falling heavily, there was controversy in Heat 9. Iversen crept under Daniel King entering the pits turn on the last lap. The young Brit appeared to be thrown off line in the dirt and his front wheel hit Iversen’s rear tyre. King was thrown under the fence, and the referee awarded the race with Iversen’s exclusion.

Wolves’ protests might have been stronger, had they not been so keen to get the next three races completed to get to a result.

Ales Dryml missed out on a maiden full house in Wolves colours in the last heat in what was an impressive display.

WOLVERHAMPTON: Freddie Lindgren 11+1, Niels Kristian Iversen 11, Ales Dryml 10+3, Christian Hefenbrock 8+2, Nicolai Klindt 8, David Howe 7+1, Kenneth Hansen 4+1.

PETERBOROUGH: Kenneth Bjerre 11, Hans Andersen 9, Daniel King 5, Morten Risager 3+1, Sam Simota 2, Craig Watson 2, Claus Vissing 1.
