A double header of away fixtures for the Edinburgh Falcons on 20th April saw the Falcons return from Stoke and Stockport with one defeat and one win.

The first match at Stoke at 12 noon was always going to be difficult with the home side fielding a team which could quite happily grace the Premier League and a heavy defeat resulted.  Final score Stoke 117, Edinburgh 62.  Top scorer for Edinburgh was Craig Newsome with 11 followed by Lee Lawrence, Gav Kennedy and Alan Smith each pitching in with 10 points.  Team Manager Dave Baxter well aware of the impending defeat made sure his team rode tactically to ensure they were in good shape for the following match.

Up the motorway for a 4pm start at Stockport.  With Stockport short on available riders for the 2008 season the racing format was reduced to the 6 man 18 heat format to ensure Stockport can continue league racing at a competitive level.  Edinburgh are well aware of these circumstances and are more than happy to happy to oblige.  As for the match itself, Edinburgh ran out winners by 76 points to 69 and the first two points of the league campaign are in the bag.  Top scorers for the Falcons were Alan Smith 16, Lee Lawrence 14, Craig Newsome 15.

The only downside of the day was a serious injury sustained by club Captain Gav Kennedy during his 2nd ride at Stockport.  Full details are not yet available but Gav was able to travel back from Stockport in some discomfort.

Next home match for the Falcons scheduled for 11th May is definitely on.
