Sunday's Northern League match at Gin Pit saw Astley & Tyldesley come head to head with Hull, after both teams had won their opening two matches of the campaign.

However, A & T, already missing key riders, were rocked by the late withdrawals of Tomasz Szwajorek and Andy Knowles. The visitors arrived at full strength, an enthusiastic team sensed victory and deservedly took the points, easily winning 102-76.

Former European Junior Champion, Remi Burchardt, once again raced unbeaten for A & T, with good back-up from Tomasz Wlodarczyk and young Joe Allen. Mick Knowles made his debut for A & T, having signed on a secondary registration from Sheffield, along with Dariusz Pilas who was unavailable today.

But, Hull were stronger in depth, with all but one of their riders scoring double figures. Veteran Simon Plows revelled on his first appearance at Gin Pit for 15 years, top scoring for Hull, with Lewis Aylmer riding unbeaten at reserve.

A & T fielded a team of youngsters in the Combination League (2nd team) match, with debutant Jason Elliott turning in an excellent performance. However, a much more experienced Hull team ran out winners, 73-45, with Norrie and Beharrell both racing unbeaten.
