The clubs that participated in the first round of league racing at Murray Bridge looked forward to the first hitout of the season and what a beauty it was.

The three clubs participating were the homeside Murraylands , the Findon Comets and the Salisbury Jets.

As usual you didn't know whether to wear sunscreen or a raincoat and although the weather turned out to a bit on the crisp side , it stayed fine and no rain eventuated.

The Murralands club seeded a few new riders today and as a matter of fact they had only one experienced rider in division four that had ridden league before so it was basically going to be a sharp learning curve for the remainder. Both the other clubs had full compliments of riders that had experience.

The riders as introduced to the large crowd as they did their team lap , were as follows.

Murraylands
Mark Sheldon
Jarryd Lillyman
Ebony Clark
Amy Lee Hay

Findon Comets
Shane Bentley
Todd Clarke
Brayden Clarke
Trent Forester
Nicole Kinross

Salisbury Jets
Josh Debattista
(name suppressed)
Braden Makepeace
Plymouth Christian
Luke Childs

Heat 1 sees the locals, Murraylands pair of Sheldon and Lillyman take on the Comets pair of Bentley and Todd Clarke with even scoring by way of Sheldon (M) winning from Bentley (F) Clarke (F) and Lillyman (M).

progressive score Murrayylands (5) Comets (5) Jets (0)

Heat 2 sees the experienced pair from the Jets of Debattista and (name suppressed) take a maximum (7) over the inexperienced Clark and Hay (3) from Murraylands.

Heat 3 and once again there was even scoring between  Nicole Kinross (F) winning from  Makepeace (S) Childs (2) and Brayden Clarke (F) who had a nasty fall on the last corner.

Heat 4 sees Todd Clarke (C) win from team-mate Bentley (C) over Clark (M) and Hay (M) with a maximum going the Comets way.

Heat 5 another maximum goes to Debattista (J) from (name suppressed) (J) over Lillyman (M) and Sheldon (M).

Heat 6 even scoring  from Makepeace (J) Bentley (C) Kinross (C) and Childs (J) sees things tighten up at the front.

Heat 7 another maximum goes to Brayden Clarke (C) and Forester (C) over Clark (M) and Hay (M).

progressive score Murraylands (17) Comets (29) Jets (24)

Heat 8 the Jets bounce straight back with another maximum to Christian (J) and Makepeace (J) over Sheldon (M) and Lillyman (M).

Progressive score Murraylands (20) Comets (29) Jets (31)

Heat 9 The Jets pinch a couple of points with a win by Debattista (J) over Bentley (C) from (name suppressed) (J) and Kinross (C).

progressive score Murraylands (20) Comets (33) Jets (37)

Halfway home and the host club is certainly suffering with the lack of experienced riders and the fact that they only had four riders to start with and the others always had a spare set of fresh legs to throw in .Still this is the way you get experience and they will learn a lot from this hit-out.

Still a long way to go but the final result is never in the bag til it's over, especially in League racing, scores change in a heartbeat.

Heat 10 Murraylans has a great race and even scores with Brayden Clarke (C) Sheldon (M) from Lillyman (M) and Forester (C).

progressive score Murraylands (25) Comets (38) Jets (37)

Heat 11 again a maximum from Makepeace (J) and Childs (J) over Clark (M) and Hay (M) sees the Jets pull away.

progressive score Murraylands (28) Comets (38) Jets (44)

Heat 12 staight away the Jets pull another maximum with Debattista (J) winning from (name suppressed) (J) over Brayden Clarke (C) and Forester (C).

progressive score Murraylands (28) Comets (41) Jets (51)

Heat 13 even scoring once again between Sheldon (M) over Bentley (C) from Todd Clarle (C) and Lillyman (M).

progressive score Murraylands (33) Comets (46) Jets (51)

Heat 14 another maximum to the Jets from Debattista (J) and (name suppressed) (J) over Clark (M) and Hay (M).

progressive score Murraylands (36) Comets (46) Jets (58)

Heat 15 even scoring is not what the Comets needed as Makepeace (J) took a win over Brayden Clarke (C) from Forester (C) and Christian (J).

progressive score Murraylands (36) Comets (51) Jets (63)

Heat 16 a maximum goes to the Comets by way of Bentley (C) and Todd Clarke (C) over Clark (M) and Lillyman (M).

progressive score Murraylands (39) Comets (58) Jets (63)

Heat 17 the Jets don't let up and another maximum goes their way by Debattista (J) (name suppressed) (J) over Sheldon (M) and Lillyman (M).

progressive score Murraylands (42) Comets (58) Jets (70)

Heat 18 the last heat of the day and even scoring between Makepeace (J) over Forester (C) and Kinross (C) and Christian (J) .

progressive and final scores see the Jets take a fine win on 75 points over the comets on 63 with the Murraylands club on 42.

Once again our friends at the Murraylands club put on a great day for everyone and we always look forward to returning.
