Cycle Speedway: Not the best of starts for Edinburgh.

One match ridden and one defeat.  Although not the ideal of starts to the season on reflection there was a lot of positives to be taken from the visit of Hull to Redbraes on 6th April.

Hull’s impressive top three did not get things there own way and had to fight for every point.

The 19 paid 20 score was arguably the best meeting for Alan Smith since his return to regular racing and it’s a measure of Alan’s regained enthusiasm that he was still pinpointing areas for improvement at training the week after.  Teenage star Jake Slight also made an impressive start picking up 10 points against riders far more experienced.

This weekend coming all eyes are on the away trips to Stoke and Stockport on 20th April.  Although a win at Stoke, the Northern League winners of 2007, is unlikely Team Manager Dave Baxter will be targeting the wide open spaces of the Stockport track as a likely place to gain the first league points of the campaign.

Back home, the next home match at Redbraes on 11th May is now under threat due to the availability of key track staff.  An announcement will be made next week as to whether the fixture will go ahead as planned or be re-scheduled.
