Sporting fans will get another opportunity to see one of Australian speedway’s most successful performers of the past two decades racing at the Yarragundry Park track near Wagga Wagga this Saturday night, April 12.

Sydney sidecar rider Darrin Treloar first came to prominence in the late 1980s and won his first Australian Sidecar Championship in 1993.

His longevity as one of the sport’s elite is evidenced by the 15 year span from that first national championship victory to his most recent success, his fifth, at Easter this year.

While he has experienced some lean periods Treloar has been the benchmark in this discipline of the sport in recent times.

As well as his on-track success Treloar has earned a reputation as one of the hardest workers behind the scenes for sidecar racing.

Perhaps Treloar’s best attribute is his willingness to compete – rarely does a weekend go by when Treloar is not competing somewhere.

As well as the Australian Championship, this past season saw Treloar win the Victorian, New South Wales and South Australian Championships and he has raced at more tracks than anyone else in the sidecar ranks.

His good form extends to Yarragundry Park with his two previous appearances there resulting in wins in the 2006 Australian Long Track Championship and the 2008 Riverina Long Track Cup.

Fields for the sidecar, long track slider, modern and evolution solo classes on Saturday all have a mix of experienced campaigners and some red-hot young talent which should help provide an interesting and exciting night of racing.

Practice will be held at 5.30pm with the 31-event program commencing at 6pm.
