The results of last night’s meeting at the Newcastle Showground (NSW) Speedway, Australia – the first time in almost four years that the sidecars appeared at the venue.

Pretty good program all round, with fans perhaps denied even better action as the big guns in the sidecars were kept apart in the heats.

Darrin Treloar and his 1993 Australian Championship winning partner Allan Griffiths, having his first ride in eight years, were decisive winners of the A Final. North Brisbane duo Rob Wilson/Cameron Bell deserve a mention for their first appearance at Newcastle which culminated in winning the B Final.

The state’s rich vein of young solo talent was on display at the meeting, the only disappointments being that the previously unbeaten Richard Sweetman dropped a chain on the line in the A Final and Sam Masters also dnf’d, but take nothing away from an impressive Michael Slade.
