Australian Speedway: What they said...........

Check out what the top-five riders had to say after the fourth round of the 2008 Australian Speedway Championship!

Chris Holder – 1st
“Oh man, I don’t know what to say! The bike was working well, the track was pretty deadly at the start and it’s pretty physical as it’s taken a bit out of me.  So to come through, get into the Final where I made an awesome start, just took the first corner and rode around for four laps.

“I was a bit nervous in the Final and knew they were all coming behind me.  I think I caught a hole and that threw me a little bit, but it worked out in the end and I am so happy it’s not funny.”

“I would love to go on and win the Australian Championship – I am so happy right now! If I could just get a few points and make it to the final, I will be absolutely stoked.”

Troy Batchelor – 2nd
“It all comes down to the heats and getting a good gate, which I haven’t been doing – I haven’t had a choice the whole series.  In four rounds I haven’t had the chance of any gate, so I’ll just have to pull something special out at the final round.

“I’m looking to finish the series with a bang to keep me happy for the rest of the summer, so it should be good and I am looking forward to it!”

Joe Screen – 3rd
“I was a bit disappointed because I made a really good start – I just couldn’t get the run around Chris, and then when he got in front of me he roosted me and I got passed by Troy, but I’m happy to get onto the rostrum again.

“The track was difficult from practise until the middle of the meeting – it was very hard to ride, especially when you go behind.  I’m just very very happy to get onto the rostrum.

Jason Doyle – 4th
“I’m disappointed, but when you don’t get the top points you don’t get the gate that you want.  I’m happy to make the Final in my hometown, and hopefully I can do the same in Sydney and then go on to win it!

“It’s all about gating tonight, and I was a bit nervous out in front of my family and all my friends.  That mucked me a little bit, but I was glad to get the three wins and make the final.

Freddie Lindgren – 5th
“There were four guys on 12 points, and one of them had to miss out.  Unfortunately it was me, but what can I do? Maybe I didn’t perform as well as I should have?

“I have to make the A-Final in Sydney, I really need to make the podium in the next round.  I should still finish on the podium overall, but I need a good meeting in Sydney.”
