Flamboyant speedway racer Adam Skornicki has become the latest rider to agree terms and link up with the Poole Castle Cover Pirates for the 2008 Elite League season. The 31 year old Polish rider put pen to paper at the club’s annual sponsors evening held at Poole’s stylish Inn in the Park hotel.
" I have been watching Adam for a number of years now and simply waiting for him to be 'right'. He is a rider who when put into a good side will be a good rider, put him into a team that is struggling then he will struggle too, so on that front some may think this is a gamble but to be honest I firmly believe that we will see the very best of Adam in 2008.”
“ His average is absolutely perfect for us as on a starting figure of 4.89 and I feel that he will develop into a potent scorer. He is also a huge crowd pleaser and I am sure that he will soon warm the hearts of the Poole fans for he is one of the true characters in the sport today.”
“ Adam knows that we are expecting solid things from him in 2008 as our Achilles heel in recent seasons has been our scoring prowess from reserves. It is an area I want to improve on this year and in Adam we have a rider more than capable of claiming a few scalps. This should be seen as a good signing for us and 2008 could be a good year for Adam."
Skornicki joins fellow Pole Karol Zabik, Australian Chris Holder and Poole skipper Bjarne Pedersen in the Poole camp for 2008 with the club now having used 23.97 of the allotted 38.85 points, leaving 14.88 points available for the final three team places up for grabs.
