"Smokin" Joe Kopp from Mica, WA had a perfect night December 8th at the 32nd Annual World Championship ICE Racing Series Opening Round in Everett, WA.
A large crowd was on hand to watch Joe win both of his Heats, lead all
of the Main Event and set a new 4-lap race record of 35.65 seconds from a dead stop start. Along with the cash Kopp became the first World Cup ICE Bike racer to win the coveted "Big Stud" trophy custom made from solid steel and marble.
Minnesota's Kevin Anderson finished a close second and Macomb, IL's Shane Vance took the last podium spot.
Hard charger Bryan McKenna from Plymouth, MA re-injured his lower leg in a first round Heat Race wreck. Bent titanium metal work from a previous operation will keep McKenna off the ice for the rest of the season.
