Reigning 2007 FIM Track Sidecar Gold Trophy 1000cc champ Scott Christopher has arrived at Wayville ahead of official practice, and is chomping at the bit to get onto the track and start competing.
Speaking after his bike went through scrutineering on a warm day in Adelaide, Christopher said that he is looking forward to getting some practice laps under his belt ahead of tomorrow’s big night of racing.
“We did a couple of laps yesterday for the official Media Day, and it just felt really great – we just wanted to keep riding out there,” he said.
“We are looking forward to having a go today, and it’s a pretty good thing – when you are feeling so ready just to go out there, so it should be good.
Christopher fired a warning to his competitors looking to take the trophy off him, saying that he has made the journey to Wayville for one reason and one reason alone – to win.
“We’re here to win it – we wouldn’t come otherwise,” he admitted.
“We’ve just got to decide what bike to ride. We’ve been tossing and turning all year for what to ride, but we’ll get it right on the night.”
The Queenslander admitted that the large track size of the event will be a challenge for himself and passenger Trent Koppe to overcome, but believes they are more than up to the task.
“We will do as much as we can in practise – laps are good.
“A track of this size is probably something we haven’t come across much in our career, so it’s something different and it’s pretty exciting.
It definitely won’t be a disadvantage – we ride on tracks where all over Australia where we’ve never been in our lives, and it’s probably where we have performed the best so we are keen and ready for the challenge.”
The practise session will begin at 7:30pm local time, with the first heat on race-day tomorrow beginning at 7:00pm.
