15 year old Ewan Hancox stole the glory at the Birmingham Monarchs Presentation evening on Friday in front of over 100 fans and riders with a brace of trophies to cap a fine 2015 for the rider.

The youngster has made rapid progress in 2015 and rode all the 1st Division matches for the club taking several big scalps along the way. He was also a tall scorer for the 2nd team.

Ewan was overwhelmingly voted 'most improved rider of the year' and 'riders rider of the year'. The awards voted by the riders and volunteers and it's clear the youngster is a popular choice with all concerned.

Ewan, who is a pupil of Hamstead Hall School is a keen and dedicated cyclist and puts in plenty of hours of training to achieve his goals.

Other winners on the night were Michelle Steel who was voted 'volunteer of the year' . The mother of youngster Connor is a vital member of the club and her contributions recognised by all club members.

Steve Hodgkinson was voted 'clubman of the year' for the 2nd year running whilst Ricki Johnson won the 'managers rider of the year' award.

Captain Scott Millward was unable to attend due to illness whilst a couple of the juniors were unable to attend in what turned out to be a very successful night for all concerned.

Matters now turn to the year ahead as a big year of racing awaits the club and riders. The club will have its AGM on Tuesday  (19th) with plenty on the agenda, including fulfilling the requirements for the Elite League set out by British Cycling. There will be a lot to arrange in a short time.
