Another successful night at the CKPC Paris Speedway event was enjoyed by a large crowd.
The addition of the yearly Vintage Motorcycle event in the Paris fairgrounds, brought along an army of keen motorcycle riders. They were treated to some excellent racing from all divisional riders. Katalin Davis from the USA came up to have her first 2007 ride at Paris. Along with the return of Canada's own beauty - Corinne Franic, the night looked to be a challange of the girls.
However, Corinne's return on a loaned bike from Kyle Legault, saw her having a few problems with traction and power. However, Terry Rideout was out to put the ladies straight and had some great races with both of them. He did his very best and won the well deserved Divisonal final ahead of Katalin. A come-back for Scott Collier after an 18 year rest was great to see. He did very well and had some good races. Welcome back Scottie! Graham Wale took centre stage with his picture proudly posted on the front of the evenings program.
Sadly for Graham though, in his second race of the night, he clashed with Peter Fornal's rear wheel and went down heavily on the first bend. Subsequently he was forced to withdraw with a shoulder injury. Peter was quickly moved into a changed program and he did a great job in D2! The track was giving the Divison 1 riders a few challenges early in the evening, but once it settled down, some great races were put on by these guys.
The heats were all action, but there were a few scary moments as the track settled down. Jeff Orosz went down while chasing Aaron Hesmer after missing his grip on the handlebars, he was quickly up to catch a struggling Gary Hesmer. Gary was having a tough time in his first 2 rides, with his bike not doing what he wanted. After a few changes though, he took off and had some good tussles and even beat his cousin Aaron Hesmer! Aaron Hesmer was chasing Gary hard and bounced hard into the boards coming out of turn 2, but held on well to avoid any disaster.
Chris, Aaron's Brother, also went down hard on turn 3 and withdrew from the night's event. Fred Legault came and gave the crowd something to cheer about. A solid crowd favorite, he rode very well and gave all the crowd what they wanted some good "hotdog" racing! The final was a close 2 lap affair until Joe Heye locked up on turn 4 and Jeff Orosz went under him to get second place behind a flying #12 Aaron Hesmer!
Fred Legault came in to round up the final field and top off a great night of racing in Paris!
