Thomas Gunnestad (17) won Sunday's championship final of the speedway in Kristiansand.
It was a tortuous path to championship gold for the 17-year-old Thomas Gunnestad. Due to a misunderstanding regarding registration for the NM via the internet, he was originally signed up too late. He still came with after goodwill from Motorsport Association.
Then NM-final postponed for more than two weeks, when it rained close and the path was too dangerous to drive on.
Now Sunday it was raining again, but it stopped just before the competition starts. - The rain made the track very well, says Thomas Gunnestad.
In the absence of big brother Lars Daniel Gunnestad (NM won last year but not this year when he runs in Sweden), so did his little brother Thomas his best competition of the year. He won the most heats including the final heat. - Fun that there is a Gunnestad wins again, says a smiling champion.
He had a little trouble with the beginning of one of the qualifying heats, which he eventually won. - Then I and my Dad (Lars Gunnestad) change the settings on the bike. After it went on very smoothly, smiling Thomas. He used a well-known engine in the final. - I borrowed the GM engine Lars Daniel won last year. Now the new overhauled. A proper gold motor, joking Thomas from NMK Drammen.
On the next places in the finals came Mickey Bjerk (Elgane MK), Pierre Moen (NMK Kristiansand) and Espen Molund, Oslo MK.
The day before on Elgane stadion, Elgane MK 1 won the pairchampinship with 28 points (Mikke Bjerk 18 and Inge Bjerk 10). On the next places come Elgane 2 25 points (Tage Skretting 14 and Remi Ueland 11) and Riska 17 (Jarle Skjaveland 10 and Tommy Thu 7.
