Ade Collins was awarded a win in Round 3 of the Pozzani Grand National Championship, after the Grand Final had to be abandoned when 1/2 the field were invovled in a massive crash on the back straight, which resulted in injured riders and bent bikes.

With too few laps complete to declare a result and no chance of a re-run, as the fastest Semi final winner Collins was awarded the overall win, with the remaining riders awarded their places by whwre they qualified for the Grand Final.

Ade Collins won semi 1 in style, leading on his HRC Honda from start to finish, with Alan Birtwistle, fresh back from racing in the States taking a good 2nd place from the young guns of Tim Neave 3rd ,Tom Woolley 4th and Ben Baker 5th.

Semi two was restarted after Tom Neave ploughed into the fence coming out turn 2. Team Suzuki rider Peter Boast made the hole shot in the restart, with Richard Magic Mason in 2nd and Darren Trapmore on the TCR Honda in 3rd. Boasty led 8 of the 10 laps until Mason managed to get the better of him to take the win from him,Trapmore 3rd, fouth spot to Tom Neave (who later found out he was racing with broken wrist) and Mark Richardson 5th.

In the Last Chance there were places for just the top two to transfer to the Final, Adam Allott dominated on the Team Aprilia Machine and Aussie Speedway star Kevin Doolan got the better of George Pickering for the final transfer spot.

As the Grand Final lined up, Ade Collins got to the first corner likea shot, from Mason ,Boast, Tom Neave and Birtwistle. By lap 3 Collins had gapped the rest of the field and the battle was for 2nd,3rd,and 4th. Mason held 2nd, Birtwistle moved up to3rd from Boasty in 4th. Then disaster struck on lap 6 when it seemed that Tim Neave found some drive which ran him wide into the safety fence with his bike bouncing back into the fast approaching pack. Eight riders just piled into each other as they were flat out on the back straight, resulting in many broken bikes and Injured riders on the track. After a long delay most riders managed amazingly to get their feet but Tim Neave came outof it the worst, with a broken collar bone, broken fore arm and damaged spleen. The Clerke of Course Nick Richardson had no option but to abandon the Grand Final and declare the Championship points on the Semi results.
