There will be a new face around the Beaumont Park Stadium next season with the appointment of Gareth Chrabaszcz who has joined the club as track curator.

Gareth, who has looked after Birmingham’s Perry Barr track since the sport returned there in 2007, learned his trade from his father who fulfilled a similar role at Wolverhampton for twenty-five years. Leicester’s latest appointment comes with a glowing reference from riders who enjoy riding the Brummies’ circuit.

The contrast between Leicester and Birmingham cannot be more dissimilar. Measuring 321 metres, Leicester’s track is twenty-nine metres longer but that is no concern to Gareth who is relishing the chance to get started in his new role. “I have been to take a look at the track and met the people who I will be working with. Their enthusiasm and team spirit is infectious and I aim to work closely with the riders and Jason Attwood to ensure that their requirements are taken into account so that I am able to create a surface that they feel comfortable to race on”.

Gareth replaces Glyn Taylor whose wealth of knowledge gained from a long career in speedway as a competitor, promoter and track curator proved invaluable during last season. Glyn was there to offer advice whenever another opinion was needed for which the Leicester promotion will be forever grateful for his input during the Lions first season back in the sport.
