Taylor Poole has won the 2012 Australian U21 Championship held in Kurri Kurri, New South Wales.

He had scored consistently through the qualifying heats, beaten only by Sam Masters & Alex Davies who both joined him along with Justin Sedgmen in the 'A' Final. In the first running of this Taylor was in the lead but the race was stopped when Sam Masters fell while under pressure from Justin Sedgmen and Sam was disqualified.

In the re-run Taylor Poole again gated first but had to fight off a spirited challenge by Justin Sedgmen to secure his first U21 title. The top three riders have now earned themselves a place in the World Under 21 Championships. Fellow Witch, Dakota North, was also in the field and made it through to the 'B' Final, finishing second to Justin Sedgmen. Jack Holder, brother of Grand Prix star Chris Holder, also left Kurri Kurri celebrating after being crowned Aussie U16 champion.

Speaking straight after the event Taylor said, "This is one of the happiest days of my life. The meeting went ok and I made a good 1st bend in the final but it got stopped and I didn't think it would happen again. I made another good gate but Sedgy got past and then I got him back. 1st Aussie title I've ever won!"

B Final: Justin Sedgmen, Dakota North, Mason Campton, Ryan Douglas
A Final: Taylor Poole, Justin Sedgmen, Alex Davies, Sam Masters (f/disq)
