15 years old Michael Neale becomes the latest addition to the Buxton Hitmen. Neale from Hyde in Cheshire started his speedway at the age of 8 after being inspired by a visit to the Cardiff GP. He started off with after meeting rides at local tracks and also competed in local grasstrack with some success. He progressed to a 500cc in 2010 and did the rounds at several tracks in the North doing second halves and getting as many laps in as possible. Last year he competed in the U16 Championships and finished a very creditable fourth. Michael has been to Buxton on several occasions practising said Mrs Moss and is keen to step up his career in the National League. He is 15 today (Thursday) and therefore eligible to compete in the NL and is keen to do that at Buxton.
There is no pressure from our part and we will be doing everything we can to help him as he looks to progress his career. Although he has put in the time doing second halves at various tracks across the North of the country he realises there is a big difference between those and regular NL racing. He has the backing of his dad, Stuart along with some sponsors and one thing he is not short of is a desire to do well continued Mrs Moss. Neale will join Blacklock at reserve along with the already confirmed Tim Webster in the Buxton line-up.
He said I’m looking forward to racing in the National League and would like to thank the Buxton promotion for the opportunity along with my sponsors who have helped me reach this point. I am very motivated for the coming season and want to do well for the Hitmen although I know it isn’t going to be easy. One rider who will not be back at Hi-Edge this year is the popular Adam Allott. Buxton born and bred, Allott has declared his intent to take a year out of the sport but is rumoured to be taking part in the Short track series. Obviously we will miss Adam and everything he brought to the team said Mrs Moss. He was very popular with the supporters and took his role as captain of the team seriously but I’m sure that he will still be at the track giving advice to the riders when time permits. This week sees the League AGM where the rules for the coming season will be ratified.
Everything seems fairly straight forward and we are not expecting any nasty surprises said Mrs Moss. Obviously a big discussion point will be the number of meetings available and the competitions we compete in. Unfortunately as a league we have lost Newport and Belle Vue and look likely to run with 8 teams which isn’t so great from the stand alone clubs point of view. However, we have had smaller numbers before and it usually works out in the end. It is difficult to find the right balance with the different needs of the second teams and the stand alones but I’m sure something will be worked out concluded Mrs Moss.
