Tickets for the FIM Scandinavian Speedway Grand Prix on September 8, 2012 are now on sale, and fans can save up to 40 percent* if they book their spot at Malilla’s G&B Arena by December 31.
The venue in the Swedish forests has gained a reputation as one of the world’s great race tracks. This was enhanced at this year’s FIM Scandinavian SGP in August, when Polish star Jaroslaw Hampel made a spectacular swoop around Swedish hero Andreas Jonsson in the final to top the rostrum.
But the locals will be determined to see new world No.2 Jonsson triumph on his home circuit, where he races for Dackarna in the Swedish Elitserien, next time around.
Jonsson’s Dackarna team mate Freddie Lindgren will also fly the yellow and blue flag, along with GP Challenge winner Antonio Lindback and late SGP series entrant Peter Ljung.
Malilla is one of the most popular tracks on the SGP calendar for the riders and BSI Speedway managing director Paul Bellamy admits it’s tough to pick a favourite.
He said: “The likes of Jonsson, Lindgren, Kenneth Bjerre and Hans Andersen all have a lot of experience at the G&B Arena, but you’d struggle to find a rider with a bad word to say about this place.
“It never fails to produce incredible speedway and I’m certain the 2012 FIM Scandinavian SGP will be another thriller.
“Our events at the G&B Arena have become a true festival of speedway. Families camp in the forests to make the most of the fanzone, live music and entertainment throughout the weekend.
“Everyone at the club in Malilla and their many volunteers work tirelessly to make this Grand Prix a success. And it’s fair to say there’s nothing else quite like it on the World Championship calendar.”
Ove Johansson, president of Målilla Motorklubb, said: “Next year will be a very special time at the G&B Arena as we host the FIM Speedway World Cup Race-Off and Final, as well as the FIM Scandinavian SGP.
“Along with our many volunteers, we are already working hard to ensure these events are a big success and I’m confident we can stage three of the most entertaining nights on the world speedway calendar.”
