The sport is getting bigger and we are getting more riders all the time,so for 2011 we have split into two Championships,the first being called the Grand National UK Flat track Championship.
This is over 6 rounds with the very best Flattrack riders from all over Europe and some very well known Speedway riders, iIncluding Eddy Kennett, Aidan Collins, Les Collins, Kevin Doolan and you may even be seeing JC at some rounds.The first round will be at Oxford Stadium. We are bringing a rider over from the USA to race there, Flattrack icon Dave Aldana who was in the famous film On Any Sunday .Although he is in his 60's now, he still races back in the states and will be lining up against Kennett,Collins etc.
Round 2 Is at brand new track just being built at Silverstone, it will be about 320 metres with a clay base, with fine white granite on top, the same as they use on BMX tracks, so it should go pretty firm and we are running on the Saturday evening of the Moto GP weekend,with Graziano Rossi,Randy Momola,Steve Plater tacking part. Round 3 is the 1/2 mile track in South Wales, the day after the Speedway GP at Cardiff,this is the only 1/2 in the Country running Flatttrack. Round 4 is at brand new Leicester Speedway track at Boumont Leys, Round 5 is what we Flattrack call TT track, still using the oval at Norfolk Arena but there will be an infield section as well. The final round is at the rider's favouite track, Rye House is a little 350metre great banked that produces some awrsome racing.
Sky TV Motors TV Channel will be covering some of the selected rounds.
The Second Championship is a ShorttrackUK Club Championship, also being held over 6 rounds. This Championship has three Junior Classes, Novices, Restricted and Pro National and will take place at Scunnthorpe twice, Rye House, Ammanford, Mallory Park and Buxton.
