Dudley Heathens are looking to continue the old Cradley tradition when they face Buxton Hitmen in the Knockout Cup Semi-final first leg at Wolverhampton next Tuesday, September 14.
Cradley were cup specialists in the 80s and 90s when the likes of Erik Gundersen, Jan O Pedersen and Simon Cross - legendary West Midland sporting names - regularly lifted the trophy.
Now the new generation of Heathens stars are looking to continue their brilliant season which has already seen them top the National League table and book their place in the play-offs.
A bumper crowd is expected at Monmore on Tuesday as Heathens look for a handy first leg lead to take to Derbyshire for the return on Sunday week, September 19.
Skipper Lee Smart said: "This is going to be tough, but with the support we get anything is possible. Buxton are a great team and the key for us is not to put any pressure on our younger boys, we just need to go out there and enjoy it."
Heathans have three riders in Birmingham's Joe Thurley Memorial Trophy meeting at Perry Barr next Wednesday, September 15.
Skipper Lee Smart is joined by Aussie duo Jake Anderson and Micky Dyer in an attractive line-up which also includes Elite League stars Ty Proctor from Wolverhamnpton and Coventry's Ben Barker.
