The Redcar Bears race the Berwick Bandits in the second leg of the Tweed-Tees Trophy on Thursday evening at the South Tees Motorsport Park, off South Bank Road Middlesbrough, with a four point deficit to make up from the first leg in the Scottish Borders last Saturday evening. The match starts from 7.30pm.
Joe Haines returns from international duty with the Great Britain Under-21 team but James Grieves has not yet recovered from his rib injuries sustained at Scunthorpe Speedway on August 20th although close to fitness. In addition Emiliano Sanchez and Charles Wright are not likely to ride again this season as a result of their injuries and so the Bears management have booked Elite League rider James Wright of the Belle Vue Aces, Manchester plus Birmingham's Aaron Summers and Stoke's Ricky Wells as guest replacements.
Berwick will have two Polish riders as their opening pairing who have only recently joined the Bandit's set-up but have made an immediate impact in the scorecharts. Marcin Rempala has been outstanding since joining the club on July 31st with a string of double-figure scores at home and away. While Grzegorz Strozyk only obtained his professional licence in Poland in 2008 but has rapidly risen through the ranks in his homeland.
At the other end of the scale of experience Michal Makovsky is in his testimonial season having made his debut as a Bandit in 2001. He is accompanied in the top five by the capable Englishmen Paul Clews and Lee Complin. Taking one of the reserve berths is Teesside based New Zealander Jade Mudgway who began his British career as a Redcar Cub in 2008.
James Grieves has been declared fit and now rides at number three in the Bears line-up.
BEARS: James Grieves, Joe Haines, Gary Havelock (C), Peter Juul, Tomas Suchanek, Aaron Summers, Ricky Wells

The meeting will also incorporate the Bruce Forrester Memorial Trophy in honour of the former Teesside Tigers captain who died prematurely. His widow Linda and family will be present to choose the most exciting rider on the night and present him with the trophy.
There will also be a presentation at the match interval to members of the Redcar Cubs who won the inaugural National Junior League. Commented league co-ordinator Dick Barrie: 'This has been a short but successful Summer league. I am delighted that former World Speedway Champion Gary Havelock has agreed to present the medals and trophy. We want to produce a British World Champion again by such initiatives and what better example than Gary who stared his career as a 16-year-old Middlesbrough Bear at the former Cleveland Park Stadium.'
Meanwhile the club has confirmed that there will be a fixture next week at the Motorsports Park but on a Friday evening as the Bears entertain the Sheffield Tigers in a challenge match at 7.45pm on September 17th.
Looking ahead to the South Tees Silver Helmet on Thursday September 30th - invitations have been sent to Grand Prix star Tai Woffinden and ex-Bear Chris Kerr to join riders such as Rene Bach, David Howe, Joe Screen, Aaron Summers and Matthieu Tresarrieu in competition for the sport's oldest individual event. It was first staged at Cleveland Park in 1928.
