Rene Bach roared to a spectacular full 15-point maximum as part of the Danish winning team in Sunday’s Under-21 World Team Championships held at Rye House in Hoddesdon.
His Denmark side scored a dominant 50 points ahead of second placed Sweden’s 36, Poland 35 and Great Britain who disappointingly trailed in on 25.
Also included in the Danish World conquering side was younger brother of former Diamond, Kenneth Bjerre, Lasse who added five to the pot in a fine achievement for the side up against top opposition from around the globe.
Newcastle team boss George English said, "Everyone's absolutely delighted - Rene especially - what a fantastic achievement.
"Rene can now say he's a gold medallist at World Championship level, and that's something everyone can be, and will be, very proud of."
Bach joins the rest of his Newcastle “Sapphire Engineering” Diamonds squad members when they go into tonight’s clash at the Newcastle Stadium (7.30pm) in a top-of-the-table clash with the Birmingham Brummies knowing full well that Edinburgh secured the Premier League title at the weekend.
But they and their Midlands guests are now both chasing down second spot before the promotion play-offs begin, and it’s just as important a place for both sides to achieve for their relative pride.
George English continued: "The Brummies have been in fine form all season and with us losing our skipper Jason King to a knee injury for the rest of the campaign it means our resources are going to be a little stretched now with our latest World Champion Dane Rene Bach, Derek Sneddon, Adam McKinna and Dakota North covering his absence.
“The trouble with these Brummies is they have a Brough Park past-master leading their challenge in Australian Jason Lyons at number one, but with his fellow Aussie troop including former Grand Prix rider Steve Johnston, up and coming antipodean stars Richard Sweetman, Justin Sedgmen and Aaron Summers in their line up we know we have to treat them with the utmost respect.
“We did of course dramatically and emphatically take the Premier Trophy from them in dominant style earlier on in the year, but we know they could still bite back and we’ll be prepared as we want second spot in the league just as much if not more than they do. It will be a battle suitable of two teams in the top three and the fans will have a treat to watch come 7.30pm tonight.”
