It's Saturday evening Speedway this week at Queensway Meadows as the Newport Wasps take on the Glasgow Tigers in Premier League action with tapes up from 7pm.

The Tigers are spearheaded by two riders who spent their entire careers prior to this season in the Elite League in Joe Screen and Travis McGowan. Joe is a former British Champion, Great Britain international and Grand Prix rider whilst Australian McGowan has been a consistent scorer with clubs such as Oxford and Swindon in the past. They are strongly supported by young Aussie Josh Grajczonek who has increased his racing average across the season. The Scottish club will operate rider replacement for John Branney who is injured as will Newport for Kim Nilsson who will be away representing his native Sweden in the World Under-21 Team Final at Rye House Speedway in Hertfordshire. Commented club owner Steve Mallett: 'We are very proud that a Newport rider has received international selection and though we will be rooting for Great Britain in the Final we still wish Kim the very best for practice on Saturday and the event on Sunday.

There is no doubt in my mind that Kim will go on to follow in the tyretracks of such Wasps legends as Gote Nordin and the late Toby Harryson and represent the senior Swedish team one day.'

The remainder of the Wasps are in place and aiming for their sixth consecutive home victory.
