Wolverhampton Speedway: Wolves demolish Play-off rivals

WOLVERHAMPTON are timing their form to perfection ahead of the Elite League play-offs and were good value for a 56-37 demolition of title rivals Lakeside at Monmore on Monday.

Grand Prix stars Freddie Lindgren (14+1) and Tai Woffinden (13+1), were the spearhead in a solid al-round Parrys International Wolves performance in front of a bumper Bank Holiday crowd.

Lindgren, in fact, continued his blistering run of form by lowering the track record below 54-seconds for the first time in the opening race - this on the back of his second successive appearance in a Grand Prix Final the previous day in Croatia.

And once again there was plenty of entertaining racing for the fans to enjoy despite the one-sided scoreline with Peter Adams' men leading from start to finish.

This was arguably Woffinden’s best Monmore performance of the season. He was quick and determined, and dropped his only point to an opponent in heat 9, when Adam Shields gated and Nicolai Klindt and Woffinden could make no impression.
Stuart Robson was in the thick of the action for the visitors and deserved more for his efforts.

Said Woffinden: "When we click as a team we are dangerous and we can beat anybody. We just have to keep it going for the play-offs."

Wolves 56: Freddie Lindgren 14+1, Tai Woffinden 13+1, Matthew Wethers 8+1, Nicolai Klindt 7+1, Ty Procter 6+1, Adam Skornicki 5, Ludvig Lindgren 3+2.

Lakeside 37: Lee Richardson 13, Adam Shields 9+1, Peter Ljung 5+1, Stuart Robson 5+1, Kauko Nieminen 5, Sam Masters 0, Jonas Davidsson 0.
