The Poole Castle Cover Pirates return to Sky Sports Elite league action on Wednesday (7.30pm) as they complete their scheduled home fixtures ahead of the end of season play-offs, hosting the visit of Peterborough Panthers.

The only club not to have been involved in Bank Holiday action the top of the table Pirates looked on as results went some way to shake up the likely candidates for the two play-off semi-finals. Whilst the Pirates are assured of a top place finish, and thus choice of opponents in the play-offs, the Panthers hopes took a blow when they, somewhat surprisingly, lost their 100% home record at the hands of lowly Eastbourne, which makes their visit to Wimborne Road take on something of a different dimension in the view of

Poole club owner Matt Ford, "They (Peterborough) will be sore from losing that home record and we will now find ourselves on the backlash of that defeat. I don't know where it went wrong for them on Monday, I don't think too many of us saw that result coming, but there is absolutely no doubt that they will be even more fired up and determined to wrestle our unbeaten home record away."

"In a way that is a good thing as it ensures that our riders will be put to the test and we need as much competitive action to keep us sharp for the play-offs. I also don't believe that we have seen the very best of the Pirates in recent matches and so I know that Middlo (team manager Neil Middleditch) will be working with them to try and get them all dialled back in. It has been a gruelling season for  many of our riders but we are coming towards the vital matches of the campaign now and we need to go into them in the best possible form."

"I still fancy the Panthers to make the play-offs themselves and that means we could meet them in the chase to determine the league title and they also look favourites to be our KO cup opponents, so there is a pyschological battle to win."

Wednesday's fixture will be ridden on the new September averages (as shown in brackets in below)

Poole: C.Holder (8.40), B.Pedersen (7.97), D.Watt (7.70), A.Mroczka (6.56), D.Ward (6.51), L.Madsen (5.96), J.Doyle (5.46)

Peterborough: K.Bjerre (9.52), N.Iversen (7.47), T.Batchelor (7.20), R.Schlein (7.12), K.Buczkowski (5.61), N.Kosciuch (4.00), M.Tressarieu (3.57)
