Chris Holder reached the semi-final stages of the delayed 8th Grand Prix of the season to maintain his place in the championship top 8 which will give him an automatic entry into next year's series.

Holder began with a second place in his opening ride, beaten by Jason Crump, whilst finishing ahead of Poole skipper Davey Watt but then found himself in a precarious position after running two third places in his next rides. A heat 14 win over Danish duo Nicki Pedersen and Hans Andersen, both well lacking in points on the day, and wild card Jurica Pavlic the much fancied home rider, boosted Holder's points tally. That was halted though when a tapes infringement in his final programmed ride cost him dearly.

With 7 points on the board Holder needed just made the cut but had no answers in his semi-final ride and moves on to a 73 point championship total.

His Poole team-mate Dave Watt finished on six points, a point shy of the play offs with the meeting being won by American Greg Hancock from Britain's top man Chris Harris,
