The Silver Ski Rockets’ Premier League match at Stoke on Saturday night was washed away by not one but two heavy showers.
The first deluge came at 7.30, just half an hour ahead of the scheduled start time. The second came as referee Chris Gay and team captains Chris Neath and Ricky Wells were walking the circuit to explore remedial options, giving Gay no choice but to call off the fixture around the time of its scheduled start.
The postponement leaves the Rockets to chase a re-staging date ahead of the cut-off point for Play-Off and Young Shield Qualification of September 20th.
The two teams are already scheduled to meet at Rye House on Bank Holiday Monday (August 30th) as part of a double header that also features the National League fixture between the Kart Raceway Cobras and the Isle of Wight. The action gets underway at 2pm.
